Naila Kiani, a renowned mountaineer from Pakistan, made history by becoming the first Pakistani woman to successfully summit the 8,163-meter-tall Manaslu peak, the eighth highest mountain in the world. She achieved this remarkable feat on a Thursday morning, followed by Shehroze Kashif, who also climbed Manaslu to become the world's youngest climber to conquer 12 peaks above 8,000 meters.
Naila, who holds several world records in mountaineering, began her ascent on Wednesday and reached the peak at 7:15 am. This accomplishment marks her ninth 8,000-meter peak, and she has plans to summit two more peaks in China this year, aiming to complete all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters. Naila, a Dubai-based Pakistani banker, shared her achievement on social media, serving as an inspiring example of overcoming challenges and pursuing one's mountaineering dreams.
Naila Kiani, an accomplished Pakistani mountaineer, has a remarkable record of climbing some of the world's highest peaks. In 2021, she summited Gasherbrum-II (8,035m) and also ascended Gasherbrum-I (8,068m), K2, and Annapurna peaks. She became the first Pakistani woman to climb any of the five Pakistani peaks above 8,000 meters. In 2022, she successfully climbed K2, the second highest mountain in the world, in her first attempt, and later that year, she conquered Gasherbrum I (8,080m), becoming the first Pakistani woman to do so.
Naila also achieved the unique feat of climbing Gasherbrum I right after her K2 ascent. In April 2023, she became the first Pakistani woman to scale Annapurna (8,091m), the world's 10th highest mountain.
Additionally, earlier in 2023, she became the second Pakistani woman to summit Mount Everest (8,848m), making her the first international climber to reach the Everest summit in that year.
