"A 70-year-old Indian Muslim, Mohammad Hasnain, and his 31-year-old son, Ishaq Amir, from New Delhi, have sought refuge in Pakistan due to repeated threats from "Hindu terrorists" in India."

"The father and son journeyed from Dubai to the UAE on September 5th and obtained a visa for Afghanistan two days later. On September 8th, they arrived in Kabul, took a flight to Kandahar, and traveled to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Spin Boldak by taxi. With the assistance of an agent, they crossed into Pakistan through the Chaman border and then paid a Pakistani taxi driver Rs60,000 to transport them from Hub to Karachi via rickshaw."

"After their arrival in Karachi, the father and son contacted the police, who subsequently relocated them to an Edhi center in Sohrab Goth. They affirmed their stay at the Edhi center and expressed their reluctance to return to India, citing religious persecution against Muslims in the country. They pointed out that religious discrimination in India has escalated significantly since the rise of the Hindu nationalist party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Narendra Modi in 2015."

"The US State Department's annual reports on religious freedom have documented numerous attacks against religious minorities, including Muslims and Christians, in India. Human rights organizations have criticized Prime Minister Modi's government for promoting discriminatory religious nationalism that particularly affects Muslim, Christian, and Sikh minority communities."
